Document Management

Post by jcgski »

Hello,

Does Forma have any document management capabilities? Also, is there a way to embed PDFs and other similar documents, so that they are viewable without download? Finally, is there any integration between Forma and WordPress?

In regards to the document management, we are attempting to add additional resources (training manuals and other documents) to the LMS, but we don't necessarily want them as part of a course.

Thanks!

Hi,
well, an LMS is somehow also a document management system.... What I mean is that you can upload any kind of document, group them under one or more folders, manage who can see them or modify them.... More or less as you could do with a basic document management system.

That said, you can simply create a "course", call it "Additional resources", change the name of the menu item and you're done.

embedding pdf's: there's a lot of tools out there, either online services like issuu or slideshare or desktop applications that turn your pdf into a pageturner or a flipbook, which you can then embed into an html page.

In Forma, documents need to be within a course, but then you can search and access them alsto through the "Content Library" feature.
So, as Max suggested, you can add your docs to a "container" course, adding categorization, description and tags for each of them, and setting them as "visible" for anybody (event not subscribed to the course).
Then, just enable the content library tab from administration > elearning > configuration >User Area Lms

Let us know if it works ;)
