Upgrade 1.4 to 1.41 stalls

Hi we have attempted to upgrade form 1.4 to 1.41 and the install stops at step 6 of 7
Upgrade languages which just sits there
Can any one suggest the fix for this?

Hi Yes I have deleted all the files then installed the update zip.
But I still stall at the language upgrade.

How many languages are defined in your installation ?
In step 6 you can see the list of languages defined ?
Can you check the integrity of xml_language folder and content ?
You must have at least an xml file for each language you have in forma.lms . Can you check the content of the xml files of interest ?

I have followed these instructions to the letter
Make a full backup of db and files I backed up the site
- Export the language files I exported the English language file - we only have English as the language on the site
- Delete all the files and dir excluding I deleted all files and folders except those below
* the folder files/
* the folder customscripts/
* your own template in templates/<yourowntemplate> (if you have any)
* the config.php file in root folder,
- Upload the new files I uploaded forma lms 1.41
- Launch http://www.yourwebsite.com/upgrade I ran the upgrade but it hangs on the language file update - we have customised the language file but that should make no difference, should it?

Uhm .... the upgrade hangs during the language import (step 6 ).
The upgrade loads the standard language xml files form the

folder uploaded on the server . can you check the content of it ?
Have you substituted the standard "lang[english].xml" file with your own ?
