Can't save new learning objects in 1.4.1 - clean install

Post by rickjohns »

Hi, I have just made a clean install of Forma LMS using version 1.4.1 and I cannot save any new Learning Objects to a course. You can click the save button but they don't appear in the Learning Objects list.

The only 'clue' which I can see compared to an upgraded 1.4.0 >> 1.4.1 (which works fine) is the editor in the upgraded installation looks like a proper TinyMCE editor with all the functions available and the editor in the new install 1.4.1 looks like a plain text box.

Grateful for any help. Thanks. RickJ

Hi RichJ

For LO upload:
First of all , check the owner and permissions of "files" folder and subfolders under your installation root

Each folder must have at least read and write permission for the webserver user (moslty apache user) . Under linux you can try with 777 permission , and than restricts accordling to your server configuration

For tinyMCE editor:
you must delete an old "*.gz" files (a compressed form of the tinyMCE javascript editor) that you can find in a subfolder of your installation either under addons/tiny_mce or files/tmp
You can found other reference in the forum

Hi All

None of Claudio's points changed anything so I approached our server host and they said :

"The requested domain was violating mod-security rules. I have disabled the those rules so please check and confirm working of admin panel."

Everything worked fine then. So if anyone else has this problem it may be a mod_sec server set up rather than Forma LMS problem. (The other installs of Forma LMS that worked OK had been imported from an old server to new one so hadn't inherited the problem with mod_sec)

Rick

a) a fresh installation of forma.lms violated some "mod- secuirty" rules during upload of LO and tinyMCE usage
b) an existing installation of forma.lms moved from an old server to the new one did not violate the same "mod-security" rules under same operations .

I'm a bit confused :?:
Which mod-security rules have been violated by forma.lms ? why only on a fresh installation ?
