Hi All,
I have created a master course with the following settings:
Type: Elearning with editions
Status: Available
Enrollment: Free
Subscription: Open (dates blank)
UnSubscribe: Free
Date begin: Blank
Date End: Blank
I then created two editions
Begin date: 01 dec 16
End date: 31 may 16
Subs open: Checked
Sub from: 01 dec 16
Sub to: 31 may 16
And
Begin date: 01 jun 17
End date: 31 nov 17
Subs open: Checked
Sub from: 01 jun 17
Sub to: 31 dec 17
When i view the course it allows subscriptions, but only to the 2nd course which has not passed the start date?
I have tried various configurations of dates but the only way i seem be able to allow access to edition 1 is to leave the start date blank.
Could someone please explain the logic behind editions?
What i want to do is have 2 editions per year (01 Jun - 30 Nov & 01 Dec - 31 May)
The user can self enrol and complete the course at any time inside that period.
at the end date the courses close off.
What settings have i missed?? :/
Cheers
Allan

Re: Editions Setup issues
Hi Allan,
here I am. Your settings look fine to me.
I tried to replicate your scenario, and the only thing I changed is the start date of edition 1. I set it as tomorrow, with subs open starting from today.
The rest has the same logic as yours.
In front end now I can subscribe to both editions

Re: Editions Setup issues
Hi max,
Thanks for your reply, yes you can "today" but tomorrow when you view it past the course start date the option to subscribe will disappear?
If subscriptions open 01 Jan and the course starts 01 Feb ends 28 feb, then on 02Feb the user will not be able to subscribe? I would like them to be able to subscribe 01 jan - 28 feb?
Ie once a course start date passes the system will not allow "late" subscriptions?
Do the master course settings have any relevance in this situation?

Re: Editions Setup issues
Hi Allan,
I put some more thoughts on this issue. I guess that the logic behind "elearning with editions" is borrowed from the logic behind classroom courses. That come with editions by default. Therefore, from what I understand, the master course settings don't affect editions.
Rather, as in a classroom course, you cannot subscribe to a course that has already begun.
As a workaround, I suggest you to copy a regular elearning course into one or multiple copies rather than using a course with editions. You will set the dates you wish (delivery start and end dates, subscription start and end dates) and that will reflect on your catalogue accordingly. Maybe it's not ideal (copies of a course will all display in the catalogue) but it will work as expected.
