Trying to send notifications when Students are assigned to courses by selecting the "Send an alert to subscribed users" option and get a "send calendar enabled:No" message. What is the "send calendar enabled option", what does it do, and how do I enable it?
The smtp settings appear to be ok. What could I be missing to send email notifications?

Re: Notifcations not going out
Send calendar option is not related with email notification.
It should be saving an event in the internal calendar.
You don't need that option set to make the email sent.
First of all, does other emails (for example customer help ones ore registration ones, lost password ones) go out correctly? If yes, you have not set the right event.
Otherwise, you have a misconfiguration issue.

Send Calendar is an option that you can enable or not in the course creation or editing.
If enabled
- for classroom courses, it sends an .ics attachment (a Google Cal or Outlook invitation) you can save in your calendar I'd say that is the main purpose of this option.
- for elearning courses, it adds the start and end dates of the course (if set) to the message
As Alfa24 was saying, you don't need that option if you just want to notify the user he has been subscribed to a course.
Provided that
- your Lms actually correctly sends emails
- you have enabled the correct events under event manager

Thank you very much. I had to bounce the server in order for the new settings to initialize.
