[ANSWERED] Please explain: Learning objects TABS

Post by forrestad »

Hello. I'm new to Forma LMS and evaluating it to see if it will fit my organization's needs. I am impressed by the work done by the developers in many areas. I could use some help understanding some parts of the Forma LMS system. I only have access to Forma version 2.3 at this time. But, please if features have been added to version 2.4.2, please feel free to describe how the functional requirement can be met by the software.

QUESTION:
What is the intended function of the tabs within the "Learning Object Management" screen? When would an instructor use "My Objects -vs- Course Objects -vs- Shared Objects"? Can I assume that "My Objects" are only seen by the logged-in user who created them? With whom are "Shared Objects" shared and where are they displayed?

Hi
My Objects => only the logged in users, so he can recycle them in different courses
Course Objects => the course teacher or admin and - of course - the students of that specific course
Shared objects => they are only displayed there, and they are shared among those (course admins, teachers...etc.) that have the right to see shared objects. The purpose is to be able to recycle them across courses.

Hi There,

I somehow deleted the Teacher Area tab from where I was adding new lessons to my course. Please help with adding the same back or any other option so that I can add new lessons to my course?

Hi Vivek, I don't know what you did, but please look at the documentation. You'll find explanations on how to use menus and a detailed tutorial on how to configure them.

Not able to find the option to get that back..

Let me explain again...After logging in with admin account and going inside a course, there are few options in the dropdown like Teacher Area, Student Area, Stat Area, Collaborative Area, etc..

As you we can add new content by going to Teacher Area section and now since that area is not showing up so I cannot add new content. I need help in configuring it back on the admin profile..

Please find attached snapshot for your reference..

This means that on the specific course you are displaying

1) you are not a teacher or a course admin
2) there is some menu misconfiguration: if you are a student in that course you shouldn't see the stat area

so just change your role in this course.

Also, please read the documentation and the tutorials on menu: you'll find them useful
